The 6th FIPA – Fórum Internacional do Património Arquitetónico [International Forum of Architectural Heritage] will have as its main theme “The Preservation of Multiculturalism in Cultural Heritage” and will be held in the Monastery of Batalha from May 22nd to 24th, 2019, with the joint organization of the University of Aveiro (Coordination), the Direção Geral do Património Cultural (DGPC), the Municipality of Batalha, and the Monastery of Batalha, also counting on the support in the organization of the partners Rota do Românico and Instituto Politécnico de Leiria from Portugal and from Brazil: Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (IPHAN), Instituto dos Arquitetos do Brasil, Conselho de Arquitetura e Urbanismo de São Paulo (CAU SP) and UIA2020 (Brazil). Professor Ana Tostões, Chair of Docomomo International, will participate in the event on May 24th, 2019.
This edition of the International Forum of Architectural Heritage Portugal/Brazil intends to discuss the multiculturality present in much of the Architectural Heritage, how this particularity should be managed and promoted, beyond the technical and scientific conditions that require specific approaches in the operations of restoration, conservation and rehabilitation.
The Forum intends to spread and debate the work that has been developed in the two countries about the built Heritage, its maintenance, rehabilitation and dynamization as a process of value creation. Its main objective will be to share knowledge and experiences at a technical, scientific and cultural level that will consolidate joint actions, partnerships and the debate on cultural policies related to heritage management, with a special focus on the link between Portugal and the Brazil and its common legacy.
